For your next Halloween...

Six Halloween Ideas for a Venue

The monster at a venue entrance.

Here are six Halloween ideas a venue, retailer or shopping centre could pull off in 2027: a walk-in creature, a watching window, your own character, a pop-up haunt, a creature on the roof and a building that wakes up. Oddtoe draws each one first, and you approve the drawing before anything is made.

The ideas mix, so you can take one or put two together. Each is below, and the Halloween activations page has the events, activations and installations for 2027.

Idea one...

The Monster You Walk Into

A grey horned monster with a glowing mouth; a queue of people walks in as crew set up the blower.

A creature stands at the entrance, and guests queue and walk in through its mouth. It is drawn at full size first, with the queue barriers marked, so you can see how it sits at your door before it is made. It packs into crates, so it can go out again.

Idea two...

The Window That Watches Back

A corner shopfront with a large glowing eye filling the window; passers-by on the pavement.

One shopfront window and one huge eye. Passers-by stop, and the eye looks back: good eye contact with your customers. The drawing shows how the eye fills the glass, and you approve it before it is made.

Idea three...

The Brand Dressed for Halloween

A designer drawing a character at a desk while the finished life-size character greets families.

Your mascot, life-size in your space. A designer draws the character first and you approve the drawing. Then it is built, and the finished character stands in your venue and greets families. It is designed in Melbourne and built wherever the project needs.

Idea four...

The Pop-Up Haunt

A shopfront turned into a theatrical haunt, with draped curtains, lights and a screen; visitors walk past.

An empty shopfront becomes a dressed and lit haunt behind the glass, with curtains, lights and a screen. Visitors walk past, look in and stop. It packs into crates, so it can go out again.

Idea five...

Creature on Wall

A giant octopus climbing a brick building, lit by a projector on the roof while a crowd watches from the street.

A big creature climbs your building and is lit from the roof. Anchoring and power are drawn into the plan and worked out with your venue, so everyone who runs the building knows what is needed before the creature arrives.

Idea six...

The Night the Building Wakes Up

A ghost projected across a heritage facade, with people on the street holding up phones.

A ghost is projected across a heritage facade, and people on the street hold up their phones. Halloween is on your building, and everyone stops to watch. Like the other five, it is drawn first, and you approve the drawing before anything is made.
