Date Night Confessionals is a new animation series. Dare I say it’s unsympathetic to the dating scene as it appears today. Tackling the apps (Hinge, Bumble, etc.), hook-up culture, ‘ghosting’, and the occasional ‘meet-cute’, the pilot script has shown me there’s enough cringe-worthy material for an entire web series.

Episode 1: The Pilot introduces us to Carson & Kim, the unlucky first contestants on the series. Nothing says drama like fundamental incompatibility. Seemingly drawn from the underworld, Carson is a boat pilot on the River Styx. Kim is a hairdresser.

Date Night Confessionals goes where it’s needed to get laughs. Misandry is rife. Sexting is awkward. And contestants are rated and judged in real time, with my own ideas as to how these dating apps should work.
