Christmas, Halloween, and the rest of the year

Holiday Campaigns: Windows, Courts, Lobbies & Entrances

Oddtoe is an experiential design and generative-AI animation studio based in Melbourne, creating projection, installation, and animated work for events, venues, and galleries. Each holiday page follows one seasonal brief from the first drawing to the day itself, and ends with the questions a brand or property team usually asks first.

Most people arrive with a date and a rough idea, and no way to picture what I would do with it. Pick the holiday closest to your brief, read it in five minutes, and you will know whether to send me the date. Christmas and Halloween are here now. Send the date and the site, and I will tell you what fits.

The rest of the calendar

One Brief, Twelve Months

Valentine’s Day, Easter and Mother’s Day are window and pop-up briefs: one large, drawn object for a shopfront, a centre court or a forecourt, with a matching character for the screen.

Lunar New Year is the zodiac animal of the year, drawn as a character and built as a window piece, a walk-in or an animation on a building. The same character can then run across the screen, the packaging and the social feed.

New Year’s Eve is a countdown moment: a lit object, or an animation on a facade, that the crowd and the cameras both face. It sits naturally after a Christmas piece, using the same drawings.

Diwali, Thanksgiving and Black Friday follow the same steps, and the object is different each time. If your holiday is not listed, send the date and the site. Related reading: all use cases and inflatable art.

Questions about

Holiday campaigns?

Oddtoe does. It is a design studio in Melbourne, with business contacts in Los Angeles and Berlin, that designs holiday windows, centre-court pieces, lobby installations and venue entrances. One artist designs all of it, and a specialist maker builds it from the drawings, near you where that is simpler. Each step is laid out on the Christmas and Halloween pages.

In this order: a brief with the date and the site, a drawing of the piece in your space for your centre or venue manager to approve, the build, an install after closing, the run, then the pack-down. Oddtoe runs all of it as one project, so you approve a picture of the piece before anything is made.

As early as you can. A built piece takes less time than an inflatable made by a specialist maker, and we confirm the timing once we know the piece and the site. If your date is closer than that, say so, and we work out what fits.

Christmas and Halloween have their own pages. Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Lunar New Year, New Year’s Eve, Diwali, Thanksgiving and Black Friday follow the same steps. The piece changes and the steps stay the same.

Oddtoe designs giant inflatables, installation art, sculpture, props, mascots and costumes, projection and animation. Pieces can be combined: an inflatable with projection over it after dark, or a mascot with an animation on the screens beside it, designed as one piece.

The date it has to be up by, photos or a plan of the space, who has to approve it, how it can be fixed and powered, and a budget range if you have one. If all you have is the date and the site, send that and Oddtoe will ask for the rest.

Oddtoe does not publish prices. Cost depends on what the piece is, how large, whether it is projected or built, how it is fixed, and whether it travels. It is costed the same way as any other prop fabrication project. Send the date and the site and you get a quote.

Often, yes. A character or a structure can change its coat for a different season, and the drawings go with it. Used across a few seasons, one build can cost less than buying or hiring new decorations each time.

Oddtoe is based in Melbourne, with business contacts in Los Angeles and Berlin. Christmas is summer in Melbourne and winter in the other two, and each piece is drawn for the weather and light of your site. For campaign briefs outside the holidays, see all use cases.
